Terms of Use

Last updated: 20 April 2026

The short version

  • Akoma is a diary app. It is not a doctor. Keep talking to yours.
  • You own your data. You can export or delete it at any time.
  • If you pay for Premium, it’s an auto-renewing subscription billed by Apple. You can cancel in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
  • If something goes wrong, email hello@akomahealthcare.com before anything dramatic. We almost always fix it.

1. About these terms

These terms form an agreement between you and Akoma(a trading name used by a UK-based operator; the “Operator”, “we”, “us”). Akoma is not, at the time of writing, a registered company. The Operator’s identifying details are available on written request to hello@akomahealthcare.com.

By creating an account, using the Akoma iOS app, or viewing akomahealthcare.com, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Akoma.

Akoma is distributed through Apple’s App Store. Apple’s standard End User License Agreement (the “Apple EULA”) also applies to your use of the app and, where the Apple EULA conflicts with these terms, the Apple EULA controls for app-store-related matters (installation, updates, refunds).

2. Who can use Akoma

You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding contract in your country of residence. Akoma is designed for adults using, or considering, GLP-1 receptor agonist medications (such as Mounjaro, Wegovy, or Ozempic) as part of a routine with a qualified healthcare professional. Akoma is not intended for children, minors, or anyone relying on it as a medical treatment.

You confirm the age gate the first time you launch the app; giving a false age is a material breach of these terms and we may terminate your account without notice.

3. What Akoma does — and doesn’t do

Akoma is a diary and habit-tracking app. It lets you:

  • Log food (via photo, barcode, text search, or manual entry).
  • Log injections, water, weight, moods, and side effects.
  • View trends, streaks, and a weekly recap.
  • Mirror selected data to and from Apple Health.

Akoma does not:

  • Provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
  • Titrate your dose or change your medication schedule.
  • Replace a qualified clinician.
  • Make any guarantee of weight change, side-effect reduction, or health outcome.

AI-powered meal recognition is a best-effort estimate. Macros and calories are approximations, not nutritional truth. Always check the label when it matters (e.g., if you have diabetes, an allergy, or a restrictive clinical diet).

4. Your account

You sign in with Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. We identify your data by the anonymous identifier plus a Supabase-issued UUID. You are responsible for keeping your Apple ID or Google account secure.

If you believe your account has been accessed without your permission, email hello@akomahealthcare.com and we will suspend access within 24 hours.

5. Content you log

You retain all rights to the content you log in Akoma (meals, notes, photos, weight, etc.). You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, back up, and process that content solely to operate the app for you — never to sell, advertise, or train machine learning models on your behalf.

If you use the AI meal-recognition feature, the meal photo is sent to our processing partner (Google, via the Gemini API) to be analysed once. We contractually require that partner not to retain or train on your images. See the Privacy Policy for details.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Log data on behalf of another person without their consent.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or automate access to the app or our APIs.
  • Upload content that is illegal, infringes copyright, or contains malicious software.
  • Use Akoma to provide medical advice to others (you are welcome to discuss your own logs with your clinician; you are not welcome to republish algorithmic output as medical guidance).

7. Premium subscriptions

Akoma offers a free tier with everyday logging. Premium unlocks unlimited AI meal recognition, the full 8-week trend window, weekly reports, and custom reminders. The terms that apply to your subscription are set out separately at /legal/subscription and are incorporated into these terms by reference.

8. Intellectual property

The Akoma name, logo, app, and website are the property of the Operator. Except for your own data, you are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use them as provided. Open-source components (e.g., Open Food Facts data) are credited in the app’s Acknowledgements screen and remain the property of their respective owners.

9. Termination

You can close your account from Profile → Data → Delete Account. This deletes all your logs and your Supabase row within 30 days. If you only want to stop being charged, cancel your subscription in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions; that does not delete your account.

We may suspend or close your account if you materially breach these terms, if required by law, or if we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect other users. We will give you notice unless doing so would compromise safety or an investigation.

10. Liability

Akoma is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We disclaim all implied warranties.
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
  • Our total liability for any claim arising out of these terms is capped at the greater of (i) what you paid us for Premium in the 12 months before the claim, or (ii) USD 100.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or anything else that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. If we make material changes, we will notify you in-app and by email at least 14 days before they take effect. If you keep using Akoma after that, you accept the new terms.

12. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales. Disputes will be resolved by the courts of England & Wales, unless a mandatory local law gives you the right to bring a claim in another forum.

13. Contact

All questions, legal notices, and support requests go to one address: hello@akomahealthcare.com. A real person reads every message.
